Wheel thrown ceramics are an exciting part of my work. I enjoy the whole clay process, knowing that it will go through approx. 7 steps from start to finish!
For me, there is power in creating clay pieces the same way Biblical potters created long ago.
God's Garden
My artwork is inspired by God's creation and I am continually in awe of how God reveals himself through his creation.
As an example, I have a deep love of flowers. They speak truth to so many parts of life, and bring joy to many. When I work with flowers, I am able to stop, pause, look, and reflect on the wonder of who God is.
The process of growing plants and flowers adds depth to my art.
Then Sings My Soul
A large part of me being an artist is the inner soul of who I am. My soul is fed by reading my Bible, being in worship with my church, and my own daily times of reflection, reading, and writing.
I spend a lot of time creative journaling, thinking, and sketching out ideas before they come out in my art.
I pray my work has depth and spiritual movement in it, so that it can bring the viewer to worship.
The inner soul is a huge part of being an artist that is rarely talked about. When my soul is hurried, stressed or not in its right frame it's hard to create. I think God made me this way so that I always find myself in the rhythm of coming back to Him.
